The dive sequence

The dive is close to shore, but it does not feel ordinary.

The shark site is only a short boat ride from the beach. The intensity comes from the animal, not from a long expedition.

02

Short boat ride

The site is close to the Playa del Carmen beach, so the trip is more about the underwater encounter than a long transfer.

The encounter

Divers stay calm and controlled while the sharks move through the area. Hands stay on the rope or close to your body; do not try to touch, chase, pose with, or act cool around a shark.

Ascent and safety stop

The group ascends together and follows the guide's safety-stop plan. Confirm the exact stop depth and time with the operator; many dives use a short stop around 3 to 5 meters.

Back on the boat

This is the part where everyone starts talking at once. Gear comes off, faces change, and the high fives usually happen before the boat even reaches the beach.

The story you take home

Then you go home and get to say the thing properly: you went diving with bull sharks in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

Controlled encounter

Trained staff manage the shark site. Guest divers do not feed or touch sharks.

This clip shows the controlled encounter setup with trained staff, not guest divers interacting with the sharks. The feeder and support diver use specialized procedures and protective equipment while guest divers remain positioned on or near the line.

For guests, the rule is simple: stay calm, follow the guide, keep your hands close or on the rope, and do not feed, touch, chase or reach for the sharks.

After the dive

That is the image that stays with you.

The shark, the blue water, the sand below, and the strange quiet when everyone realizes what just passed in front of them.
