Bull shark diving questions and answers
When is bull shark season in Playa del Carmen?
The usual season is November to March, depending on the year, conditions and shark activity. Always confirm current availability before planning around it.
Do I need to be certified?
Yes. This is for certified divers, normally Open Water Diver or equivalent and above. It is not a Discover Scuba Diving activity.
How deep is the dive?
The dive is usually described around 24 meters / 72 feet on the sandy bottom.
What is the minimum age?
The listed minimum age is 15 years old.
Do I need a recent dive?
The last logged dive should usually be within the last year. If it has been longer, ask whether a refresher is needed before booking.
Are shark sightings guaranteed?
No wildlife encounter is guaranteed. The dive is seasonal and planned around the best local window, but conditions and animal behavior still matter.
Can I touch the sharks?
No. Hands stay on the rope or close to your body. You watch the sharks, you do not touch them.
Are photos available?
Ask when booking. This is one of those dives where having a photographer in the water can be worth it.
Is equipment included?
Dive equipment is normally not listed as included. Confirm rental gear, sizes and current pricing before booking.
What happens if weather is bad?
The operator will confirm what is possible based on conditions. If the dive cannot run safely, you will be told the next available option.
Can I make a reservation by fax?
Amazing that you still have one. Unfortunately, no. Please use the booking form or the Book Now button.
